Some years ago people started talking about remote controlling appliances. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to change the setting of the heating system at home from work? Make sure it will be nice and comfortable when you finally get there? With the rise of the Internet it seems a natural fit to network enable every device you could think of and connect it to the Internet. Add a WAP enabled phone and you're about to control whatever needs to be controlled from anywhere on this planet. Several hardware developers recognized the need for inexpensive embedded controllers. Using these it's very simple to add network capabilities to a lot of appliances. Adding an embedded controller by itself won't enable you to control the appliance. You'll need to add software too. And writing that kind of software is what The-Box Development does. We've been working with Dallas Semiconductors TINI from its early alpha versions. If you need to network enable your product and need the software to control it, ask us!
One of our current projects is an IrDA Lite stack for TINI. We're working with Systronix on this. Please check the project pages at their site for the latest information. The software is available for download
